Jesus has been completely honest with us. Now we must be completely honest and open to seeing with our heart all the truth about him. Sometimes as Christians we believe the views of the world. We sometimes believe our own thoughts of lies, that God is not using us, we don’t have any authority or power over evil, we even consider the thought that we are not made in the image in the likeness of our Father in heaven.
The Bible tells us the truth of this information. It is not an information problem that we have but rather a problem with our heart. Our heart is sometimes more open to the world than to God. God tells us to close our heart to the world (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). It is the time that we only keep our heart open to the Lord.
How can we expect God to purify our hearts if we continually considering the world and indulging in their ways? We indulge with the world by what we allow into our eyes, ears, hand, and mouth; the worldly way brings an increase of evil actions that damage our soul. The ways of this world are forbidden to God.
We must not only think of our purity unto God as a matter of cleaning just our flesh. We also need to be cleansed from the filthiness of our spirit. It seems like it is easier to deal with the filthiness of the flesh. We can see through ministry the stains of others flesh, like prostitutes, and drug dealers etc. but what about those of us that think we know God and are hypocritical and judgemental; like the Pharisees during Jesus Ministry. The Pharisees had a stain in their spirit, It seemed to be harder for them to come to Jesus than Mary Magdalene the prostitute.
Pride, Self-Righteousness, Bitterness, and Hatred are sins of the spirit. I’m learning that the spirit issues are more challenging to deal with the issues of the flesh. There is a defilement of the flesh and a defilement of the spirit. Our spirit can be defiled in many ways. I have become more concerned about cleansing my spirit. I believe if you have a clean and strong Spirit that will we take the lead of a filthy flesh
I don’t believe the Christian lifestyle is about only getting rid of evil, but more about becoming and doing good. Perfecting holiness in the fear of God. the closer we get to the Father of light, the more we discover the darkness that’s in us. I am encouraged today to pursue the holiness of God. God commands us to be Holy as He is Holy.
