1Pe 1:5 KJV – Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Those who have surrendered themselves to Christ are those who know of His keeping, subduing, and sanctifying power. When we come to know the power of God, we must trust Him. When we know and are led by the guidance and power of the Holy Spirits presence, we must recognize Him; if we want to know the warmth of God’s unfailing love, we must abide in Him.
God’s love has been perfected in our unworthiness, and His strength is perfected in our weakness. I recognize the two sides of truth, that as we keep ourselves in the power of God , that is how we know and are confident in His power to keep us in mind, spirit, soul and body.
What is it that keeps us from trusting Him perfectly? I’ve had to ask myself this question.
I’m finding that a huge hindrance to trust is self-effort. As long as we have our own wisdom, thoughts and strength, we cannot fully trust God. But when we decide to totally trust God, we will break down our flesh and surrender all of who we are to His will. When everything began to grow dark before my eyes, and I saw that I understood nothing, then God came close to me. I chose to bow down in nothingness and wait upon God, and He became my all.
As long as we are something, God cannot be all, and His omnipotence cannot do its full work. That was the beginning of my faith-utter despair of self, a ceasing from man and everything on earth, and finding my hope in God alone.
